The Fellowship of Reconciliation today signalled its disappointment at the USA, UK, Australia trilateral security agreement announced 15 September 2021
Rev Christopher Collins, Trustee of the Fellowship and Chair of the Methodist Peace Fellowship said:
“The recent announcement of the USA, UK and Australia trilateral security agreement is a retrograde and disappointing announcement. It does little to build true security, delivers few jobs and doesn’t tackle the real threats of health pandemics and climate change that both our nation and world face.
That agreement raises major questions including what if we invested in positive relationships rather than shoring up our defenses further? Why do we have a weaponised ideology of international relations? Modern day influence is found through soft economic and social influence, not through building outdated weapons of war.”
