Latest programme news: Rev Dr Carla Grosch Miller will be talking on Liberation Theology and how it is foundational to the pursuit of peace.
Carla is an ordained minister serving in the United Reformed Church and a theological educator specialising in sexual-spiritual integration and formation for ministry. Before ordination she was a poverty and civil rights lawyer in Alaska.
International Coordinator of International FoR, Lucas Johnson, is coming from Amsterdam to talk after the AGM. Lucas is a Baptist minister and nonviolent activist and we can’t wait to hear what he has to say. He’ll be sticking around for the weekend so don’t miss the opportunity to have a chat with him.
This year, for the first time, we’re combining our Young Peacemakers Network weekend away with our annual council, so that members can all get together.
The theme is Channels of Peace: exploring our call to action and will cover different ways that Christians are making peace or could do better including disarmament, ecology & climate change, sexuality, gender and economy as well as skills-based workshops so you leave even more equipped for peacemaking. We’ll also have a session on using the new election briefing produced by the Network of Christian Peace Organisations, of which we are a part .
The weekend will include our annual council and AGM on the Saturday. Come for the whole weekend or just part of it and bring your experience and enthusiasm.
Contributors include: Ellen Teague, journalist and campaigner on peace and ecology; Pat Gaffney, peace campaigner and Pax Christi co-ordinator; Chris Cole, peace activist and campaigner; and Symon Hill, activist, trainer and writer on economic justice and media.
There’s no set charge as we don’t want cost to be prohibitive for anyone. Travel bursaries are also available. For those who wish to make a donation towards the cost of the event, there’s more information on the booking form.
