The 2024 General Election will happen at a time when the world seems perilously pointed towards continuous warfare. In the month the election was called, there was a failed coup in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, increased military rehearsals in the Taiwan Straits and the wars in Ukraine and Gaza grind on. The presence of these conflicts show the world needs increased peace and security, and that will only come about through long term investment in building peace and defending the right to protest.
