It is a fragile time in Palestine and Israel and people return to the remains of their homes in Gaza. The ceasefire still holds yet President Trump has today ignited new and chalenging persectives on how a lasting peace can be achieved.
John Cooper, Director of the Fellowship, said in response:“Today’s provocative statement from President Trump disregards the rights and identity of Palestinians. It ignores international agreements and does nothing to build a justice-based peace for all.Gaza is not a piece of real estate to be bought and sold, but, together with the West Bank, is part of a Palestinian homeland. We long for peace in Gaza and in Israel. But not an easy temporary peace coming from the abuse of power. Instead an intelligent, compassionate and lasting peace built on security and justice for all.”.
As the day has worn on Governments from around the world, including the UK Government, has sought to distance themselves from the comments. It is clear there is international desire for a true and lasting peace. As a network we work to help you make peace possible. Do spend a moment praying for peace and if you are in contact with your MP then encourage them to write to the Foreign Secretary asking that the rights of everyone are respected, Gaza is not cleared of Palestinians and a lasting two state solution is persued.
